Manyara Ranch

Project Overview

AWF invests in education and sustainable development so that Africans can lead in conserving their natural heritage, working with communities to create commercially viable enterprises that conserve wildlife and its habitat while improving the livelihoods of people.

  • Relocating a school from a key wildlife corridor, updating and improving education and living conditions for students while minimizing human/wildlife conflict in an area opened to allow wildlife migration between two major national parks
  • Maasai pastoralists benefit from a new feedlot and abattoir along with access to drought-season grazing
  • AWF helped create Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) that educate and unite locals, promoting wildlife conservation and bringing wildlife tourism dollars
