Project Overview

Mountain Lodges of Peru (MLP) designed an eco-friendly luxury resort trail system for hikers trying to find an alternative, less-worn route to Macchu Piccu. Their plans include helping the 200 families living along the route. MLP then created Yanapana Peru to work directly with local artisans and craftspeople to provide resources to develop their skills and launch businesses. Besides helping the community, MLP developed an eco-team to ensure that all of their projects leave the smallest footprint by designing sustainability projects for each lodge and working with the community to provide them resources for reforesting their community. This mutual relationship helps tourists get both a genuine and eco-friendly experience while providing sustainable income in eco-tourism to the local communities.
